There is something I have noticed more and more with those of us who consciously work with the law of attraction (and other natural laws) and that is this – when it comes to our feelings, we have become pretty confused about what we are supposed to do – and dare I say a little ‘paranoid’ about it all as well!
As soon as we realise that we are conscious creators and that we can shape our reality from the inside out, we see every negative thought, bad mood or internal tug of war as a bad thing.
We start to worry about what we are manifesting.
We start to worry that we’re going to suddenly attract ‘negative’ or ‘bad’ things our way.
So instead of allowing ourselves to actually ‘feel’, we make a frantic effort to cover up these unwanted feelings and get rid of them as soon as humanly possible.
Now don’t get me wrong – if you choose to spend all your your days focusing on all the things you don’t want in life then yes, you will probably end up attracting more of what you don’t want.
If you choose to spend all your days elaborating stories of unwanted things in your head and blowing things out of proportion, then yes, you may well end up attracting more drama and things you don’t want into the life experiences you are obsessing over….
….. But……. if you are not allowing yourself to feel genuine feelings that need to be expressed in some way, you may also find that you are unknowingly building up more resistance which doesn’t even have to be there.
It’s this consistent suppression and resistance to your feelings that’s affecting your vibration and energy, not actually having the feelings in the first place.
Now this is great news for all of us – I know it was for me and to be honest it took me a long while to figure this one out for myself but when I did, it was also an enormous weight off my shoulders – and it will be for you if you take this on board and stop suppressing your feelings so much in an effort to get rid of them quickly.
What we need to remember is this:
Feelings are good, yes that means all of them!
So own these feelings, appreciate the contrast they give you and take responsibility for them….
…. Not only do they provide us with great data about how aligned we are in the moment, they are also an opportunity to honour something inside of us that just wants to be heard in some way.
Once we honour, flow and release our feelings, it is then so much easier to move up that emotional scale and shift our vibration naturally without all that resistance getting in our way.
We don’t need to try and jump all the way up to that great feeling all in one go….
…. we just need to look to do one thing – finding RELIEF.
Relief helps to release resistance and it’s that resistance that keeps us stuck! You simply can’t fool your vibrational energy by masking negative feelings with false positivity. ‘Acting as if’ is all very well if you are doing it from a neutral state but not if you are trying to jump from a state of deep resistance.
Yes, yes I know! – Abraham has been teaching us this for years now, believe me, I have read, watched and listened to this over and over and it still took me a long time to allow myself to do this!
The Law of Polarity
There’s a natural law that really helped me get this and that is the ‘law of polarity’
So for each and every feeling we experience, there is an opposite. Abraham-Hicks describes this as a vibrational stick with both extremes at opposite ends of this stick.
For instance sadness has a polar opposite of happiness, pessimism has a polar opposite of optimism, insecurity has a polar opposite of trust etc…etc. (see below)…. and there are many points in-between these 2 opposites that we can choose at any one time.
So if we are feeling really ‘insecure’ for instance, it can feel near on impossible to jump straight up to complete trust.
Any effort to do this will simply feel fake, or it might feel like there is still something bubbling under the surface, or we might even still have some kind of physical feeling such as sickness or feeling ‘run down’ that we just keep trying to push to one side.
Ignoring this simply creates more resistance. From a position of trying so hard to ignore something, you are creating a push – resistance that will continue to affect your vibrational energy over time.
So if you can’t feel good about something right now, simply look for relief in some way. Just look for the next step along the vibrational stick until you begin to feel a little better.
This might be something that happens quickly or it might take time but just keep feeling a little more relief each time until you feel that shift in energy.
You’ll know when the relief is taking you in the right direction as you will start to feel good about where you are.
So what are some ways you can feel relief?
You might want to focus on something else that you do feel good about
You might want to sit with your feelings for a while, acknowledge them and thank them for what they are trying to tell you
You might want to just let it all out and have a good cry
You might want to do nothing and just curl up on the sofa and rest
You might want to nurture yourself in some way like having a warm bath or a nap
You might want to listen to some relaxing music just because it feels nice
You might want a night out on the tiles to have fun
You might want to get absorbed in a great film or book
and so on….the list is endless and as unique as we all are!
Just start where you are, look for something that will make you feel just a little bit better.
If you can’t feel good right now, simply look for relief.
