I was really inspired by an email by Lisa Marie Hayes about what do I do if the law of attraction is not working for me – 5 Things To Do After You Give Up On Deliberate Creation.
I really loved this email because I have been having quite a lot of conversations with people who are already amazing manifestors but they can start getting stuck in that feeling of ‘it’s not working for me’, ‘I don’t know what to do, maybe I’m not asking for the right thing’, ‘maybe I’m not asking for things in enough detail’ – they just feel like there is something wrong with whatever they are asking the universe for or they’re are not allowing enough, all sorts of things could be going on in their mind.
What I have found is, once people are into the law of attraction, sometimes it can all get a little bit too serious and this seriousness, this need and desperation that we start to feel around receiving what we want to receive after we’ve put it out there to the universe, can actually push that very thing away from us because we stop being in that relaxed mode, we stop feeling good about life, we stop feeling good about who we are, where we are and it creates this push, this resistance that wasn’t there before.
Also – law of attraction is a term that has been overused and is also in danger of creating a nation of ‘wishful thinkers’ who think that all they need to do is focus on what they want and the universe will miraculously bring it to them.
And whilst this focus is a good thing, it is only part of the story. Focus isn’t enough, you have to take some kind of action, some kind of small step in the direction of your desire… but that is a whole new blog post!
Now the amazing thing is, if you look around you at people who aren’t necessarily into law of attraction – but are still manifesting what they desire, you can see evidence that the obsessive focus around this law is not necessarily doing us any good.
You’ll see that people appear to get things quite effortlessly – there may be someone you know who can be quite negative and moan and groan about certain things but they haven’t got this thing in the way – they are still manifesting what they want.
Sometimes too much awareness of the law of attraction, conscious creation and manifesting can have the opposite effect. It can stop us receiving what we want through this resistance that it is creating.
So this email from Lisa Marie Hayes just reminded me of some of the conversations I’ve had with my coaching Clients which was to almost forget about the law of attraction (which sounds like a funny, counter-intuitive thing when know we can create our own reality), but to just relax more, so stop this feeling of having to have something, just relax more and try and feel good.
Lisa Marie was discussing things like de-cluttering your home, clearing out the old to make way for the new but not with any particular intention behind it. I think the key to it really is just feeling good and creating that space in your life for whatever it is to come in, but just do it for the sake of feeling good, for the sake of feeling great about decluttering your space.
Enjoying the experience of relaxing, enjoying the experience of being with loved ones or whatever it is that gives you that sense of fun, makes you feel lighter about yourself and stops you being so obsessed with this law of attraction thing.
You know, I love law of attraction (to a point since I don’t think it’s the full story of how we manifest), but sometimes we can take everything a bit too seriously and we just need to learn to relax more.
So if you are feeling a bit stuck, then what I would challenge you to do today is to think, right, where can I let go, where can I surrender all of this wanting for this particular thing and just learn to relax more in my life so that what I want is just going to come to me though the path of least resistance – and maybe in a way that you weren’t even expecting which will be absolutely amazing.
