Not feeling good enough?
This is the first of several posts on the subject of self worth and not feeling good enough and in my opinion, a subject that deserves a lot of attention!
You see I firmly believe that ‘what is’ i.e. what is manifesting in our outer reality has a direct connection to how worthy and deserving we feel on the inside.
Each blog post in this series is also a more detailed expansion of a related podcast episode and if you want to listen to each episode as you read through the posts, then please do! I will link to the related podcast in each one and also link up all the posts so that you can get to them easily if you are eager to delve more into this subject.
So this first post is an expansion of this podcast here (opens in a new window)
58. Feeling Worthy of Everything In Your Life?
So first let’s explore how you know where you current level of self worth is.
This is the easy bit…
… and the reason it’s really easy is because all you have to do is look around you at your current reality.
As you may know already, (especially if you have listened to my podcasts because I talk about it alot!) life is just a mirror. A mirror of what is going on inside of you.
This means that everything you experience in your reality is just a reflection on how you feel about yourself.
And this might be different for different areas of your life. For instance:
You may feel like you have a high sense of self worth when you are with your family – confident, assertive, assured, respected and able to be yourself – yet when you walk into the work place, you get a sinking feeling, feel insecure, disrespected and not able to be yourself.
Or you might feel like a dynamic, assertive executive in the workplace yet feel second best in your family home – like everyone expects you to put them first and complains very loudly when you want to do something for yourself.
Or you might feel great when you are with one set of friends yet pretty worthless or self conscious when you are around other acquaintances or in other uncomfortable social situations.
And so on…
This is perfectly normal, since we have a tendency to relate our sense of self worth with what we have experienced in our past – even when we are not totally sure where it has come from (and I don’t believe we need to beat the drum of that either! We can make a shift from where we are right now).
But all of this isn’t the key thing here. The key thing is that since we know everything is energy, this means that universal things like love, money, other abundance, our family life, our home, our day to day world and all the millions of fragments in between… are all energy.
And if we are not experiencing what we want in life, it is simply because that ‘outer reality’ is matching our ‘inner sense of deserving’ and whether we feel ‘enough’ in that particular area.
When you think about it, it makes perfect sense for our outer experience to mirror exactly what we feel we deserve in life. I truly believe that our sense of self worth is tied directly to whether or not we are allowing all that amazing stuff to actually manifest into our reality.
I have to admit, it took me a long time to get this myself and it was because I looked at my life as a whole and expected it to be the same across the board.
But it isn’t. There are some areas of my life where I have this inner knowing that I am totally enough and so deserving – for instance, I have an abundance of love in my life and a family who adores me totally.
An easy correlation here shows I feel good enough to be loved to the point that it is a natural expectation and therefore continues to be a pretty effortless manifestation for me.
I know this because I feel very self assured in this area. Even when my husband is off doing his own thing, or we have a disagreement, or my kids temporarily tell me they hate me because I say ‘no’ to them…. I feel secure. But not because of them – I feel secure in myself.
I have an inner knowing in this area that I easily deserve an abundance of love. Probably because for my whole life I have felt loved. In fact, even when past romantic relationships caused me to feel rejected, I still did not lose that sense that I was worthy.
And I can’t even put my finger exactly on why – just this sense of knowing ‘I am enough’ which feels rock solid.
However – when it comes to money, my outer reality often reflects where I don’t feel good enough. Yes, I have a belief that I am always supported, and I am…. yet, when I feel I want more than that, I can often self sabotage or feel like I should just settle for what I have and that wanting more is greedy.
Now this area is improving as I increase awareness and my sense of deserving. The feeling of unconditional love from the people in my life can be transferred to the way I feel about money – after all, it is all from the same energy!
… but this is is a great example of how you can have 2 areas of your life at opposite ends of the self worth scale (and scattered across all points in between!)
So even just considering the different areas of your life and your sense of self worth in each of them can speak volumes simply from what is manifesting in your outer reality. Things like:
How much love you expect
How much money you earn
How others treat you
The respect you expect from different people
Your home and possessions
The time you spend relaxing or for self care
The time you spend doing what you love etc.
So everything we experience, whether it is exactly as we want it or whether we are ‘making do’ is underpinned by this sense of worthiness.
If you want to know how much you think you are worth right now in any given area, just look around at your current reality – it’s amazing what we ‘see’ when we become ‘conscious’ of actually noticing it.
And this awareness is the perfect springboard to start making a shift so that your inner self worth reflects back a life you truly deserve in your outer world.
